This Month's Tips From Loose Leaf Binder Company

Tips

Ring Size - Measuring
The most common mistake people make in determining ring capacity is using an existing binder and measuring the outside spine width. For O rings, you should always measure the inside diameter of the ring. The spine width method will always end up in a larger binder size and a disgruntled customer. D ring and Angled D rings aren't as easy. Call us for help or send us an E-Mail. We'll send you a free ring gauge if all else fails.

If you don't have a binder, but know how much material will go into it, use the following method: 100 sheets (20# Bond or 50# Offset paper) for each 1/2" of ring capacity.

For example, if you will be putting 400 sheets and tabs into the binder, just divide by 2 (= 200) then by 100 (= 2) and you would use a 2" binder. D ring and Angle D ring binders hold more, but not enough to change this method. Don't forget about the user putting additional material in at a later date.

Tips

Inserting Tabs into text.
If your binders are to be used by your employees for employee manuals or telephone directories, don't pay extra money for us to insert Index Tabs into text. This is a time consuming task that can easily be done by each employee. Get the tabs in collated sets, and place them in front of the binder text. Have a colored slip sheet collated in the text at each tab position for ease in insertion.
